CHANDRA LACOMBE
Each cover seeks to translate the formal and, at the same time, intangible essence of the mantras, whose origin is full of symbolism of avatars such as Shiva, Ganesha, Buddha, and Mahavatar Babaji. The illustrations reflect the dialogue between culture and spirituality in the East and West, an essential pursuit of the artist whose hybrid musicality expands the boundaries of musical genres.
Medicine Buddha is a powerful mantra that is used for healing or the dispelling of any disease. It is addressed to the great compassionate Buddha, who carries a very soulful prayer… One that can uproot from the mind the very cause of all kinds of illness, as if its compassion acts to melt the grip of the negativity trends, which are the true cause of disease. This version has its unique fusion touch as it brings together the Eastern Buddhist message, dressed with the melody and groove which is evocative of Peruvian medicine traditional tunes. The “mandala” on this one has a hypnotic dreamtime continuum feature, that is captivating and induces a meditative effect. This track from the ‘Jaya’ album is one of my highlights.

This mantra is dedicated to ‘Lord Shiva’, the one with three eyes who can see beyond duality, seeing what lies beneath. He permeates and nourishes all creatures and helps to destroy diseases, even death. All things are bound to perish. Shiva helps to rescue the nectar and release attachment to death, which leads to eternal life, which is our true innermost nature. This is a good way to translate this beautiful Shiva mantra, also known as a Rudra mantra.

Whenever we sing Ganesha’s mantra, we invoke the power of a principle designed to overcome any negativity or obstacles. In this mantra, when we sing "Pahiman," we are asking for the grace of Lord Ganesha to save us from negativities. On the other hand, when we sing "Rakshaman," we call upon his power to protect us from obstacles. "Jaya Ganesha" is the third single from the upcoming album ‘Jaya’. This track features a typical ‘Bhajam/Kirtan’ structure, creating an uplifting and cheerful mood. The spirit of this chant is to celebrate the victory of Ganesha Deva, also known as “Ganapati,” the leader of the troop of Ganas, the army of Good, Virtue, and Wisdom. Enjoy and chant it with this spirit in mind.

In this devotional song dedicated to Shiva, the refrain "Om Nama Shivaya" represents the essence of the Hindi tradition. Alongside Krishna, Ganesha, Buddha, and Hanuman, Shiva is one of the most revered deities in India. When I received this bhajan (devotional song), I was enveloped by its energy—it came to me spontaneously. It's truly amazing to address the attributes of Shiva through these songs.
